This Japanese drill bit is a specialty item designed to solve the challenge of precisely drilling profiled holes for installing Rotomatic type tuners.

Manufactured from HSS steel, it is well-suited for drilling into hardwoods.

  • Tip diameter: 7.8 mm (0.31"), tip working length: 9 mm (0.35")
  • Second step diameter: 9.9 mm (0.39")

How to Use the Drill Bit

    Tuning Head 2-step drill bit from Hosco
    1. On the backside of the headstock, mark the exact location for the hole. Drill from this side of the headstock.
    2. Refer to the picture: the drilling depth of the larger section depends on the neck length of your tuning head.
    3. Install the tuning mechanism as illustrated. Be careful not to over-tighten the locking nut of the tuning mechanism.
    4. Done!
