Specialty guide jig for Hosco fret cutting saws, featuring anti-slip functionality, cutting depth control, and a magnetic right-angle guide for precise cuts. More

This Jig is a Major Aid for Cutting Frets with a Japanese Saw

A specialty jig designed by Hosco, this guide jig significantly enhances precision and speed when cutting fret grooves in guitar necks with a saw.

Holds the saw blade at right angle

The saw blade is securely held at right angle to the fingerboard by three Neodymium magnets. These magnets are positioned at the locations marked by the red circles in the picture.

Cutting depth control

The Guide Jig slot cutting depth can be adjusted from 0mm to 5.3mm.

The magnets within the white polyacetal guide hold the saw blade securely in place. The saw will keep cutting until the back of the blade reaches the edge of the jig, which determines the maximum cutting depth. This mechanism is illustrated in the picture, marked by a red circle.

Removable Anti-slip Silicone pad

The silicone rubber pad prevents the fret saw guide from slipping, especially when you’re holding it down by hand during cutting.

If you choose to clamp the guide jig, be sure to remove the silicone pad from the area in contact with the clamp to avoid any damage.

How to use Hosco Fret Cutting Guide Jig

  1. Adjust the Cutting Depth: The depth is adjustable from 0mm to 5.3mm. To set the desired depth, loosen the wing nuts on the side, slide the frame to the required position, and then tighten the wing nuts. Each line mark on the wing nuts indicates a 1mm height increment.

  2. Optional High Guide Position: For the maximum cutting depth, you can set the guide upside down as needed.
  3. Verify the Cutting Depth: Make a test cut on a scrap piece of material. If the depth is not as desired, slide the frame to adjust the depth accordingly and retest.
