The original nut supplied with the Switchcraft toggle switch is very flat and contains only a few threads. You've probably noticed that it's almost impossible to grip with your fingers, and most importantly, those few threads can't securely tighten the relatively massive switch. The nut keeps loosening. It needs to be tightened regularly.

This is solved by replacing the original nut with the displayed nut with extended threads. The resulting appearance is indistinguishable from the original, but it can be tightened much better.
