Hosco CR-223 Polyester Film Capacitor 22nF (0.022uF)

High-quality Japanese polyester film capacitor, Size: 0.022 μf.

Used mostly for Humbuckers.

Capacitor values for Humbucker vs Single-coil

As you are aware, Humbuckers have two opposite-wound coils in series (to eliminate the hum), thus they have double the inductance compared to Single-coils. Double the inductance means they require half the capacitor value compared to Single-coils in order to achieve the same tone filtering effect.

Note, that the double capacitance for Single-coil would be in theory 0.044uF, which is not a standard value. The closest available value is 0.047uF.

In short, 0.022uF capacitor is used for Humbuckers, and 0.047uF is used for Single-coils.

Do not get confused, when the capacitance is written different way, here is a cheat-sheet:

• 0.022uF = 22nF = 22000 pF
• 0.047uF = 47nF = 47000 pF
• uF is micro Farad
• nF is nano Farad
• pF is pico Farad
